Fundamental concepts of microwave engineering are emphasized so students
could put them to use in their future works. Lengthy derivations are
intentionally avoided, but without losing the rigorousness. The main topics include transmission-line theory, high-frequency transmission lines, cables, and connectors, matching networks, microwave network theory, passive circuits, resonators, and filters. In addition, electromagnetic field theory, computer-aided design, and microwave measurements are discussed. This course will give students solid foundations for the applications and research of microwave circuits, high-speed digital transmission, packaging of integrated circuits, and high-frequency measurements.
