課程大綱(Course Outline)

Goals and Objectives

Students entering Engineering Mathematics should have a firm grasp of Calculus and linear algebra. The objective of Engineering Mathematics I is for students to learn the basics of modelling and solution of scientific problems, such as ordinary differential equations (ODE), orthogonal functions, Fourier analysis and partial differential equations (PDE). More generally, the students will improve their ability to think critically, analyse a real problem and solve it using a wide array of mathematical tools. These skills will be invaluable to them in whatever path they choose to follow, be it a mathematics major or in pursuit of a career in one of the other sciences. They will also be able to apply these ideas to a wide range of problems that include engineering equations. The students should be able to interpret the concepts of modelling algebraically, graphically and verbally.

Course Requirements

We strongly suggest that students should take the credits from calculus before attending this course.

Course Policies

Students are expected to attend all exams but classes. You don’t need to submit any assignments. During the courses, you will experience five tests and a final exam; all of them are closed-note and closed-book. Please note: The examined range of the final exam will cover the whole semester!!

Finally, there is no chance to adjust your final report (total grade). Please sincerely consider this issue. If you cannot accept the policies of this course, please do not consider taking this course.
